- May 22, 2019 Necromancer Mag DPS Build Concept. Necromancer DPS is all about rotations and consuming corpses for maximum damage. Most of the damage comes from Grave Lord Skill Tree and those abilities are Ricochet Skull, Stalking Blastbones, Unnerving Boneyard and Mystic Syphon.Understanding these 4 abilities and properly rotating them is key to high DPS numbers.
- Welcome to the Necromancer Tank Build PvE “Colossus” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The Necromancer Tank Build PvE “Colossus” is optimized for Dungeons, Arenas & Trials.
- Oct 22, 2017 The Blood Mage is a Necromancer Build that relies on high Intelligence and Critical Chance to deal massive damage. Unlike other Mages, the Blood Mage deals Physical Damage, much like a Warrior or Ranger. Always pick the one with best bonuses, not damage.
- This Magicka Necromancer Build both has an optimized version for Cyrodiil and one for Battlegrounds. We are currently using Bright-Throat's Boast, Necropotence and Mighty Chudan. Bright Throat, Necropotence in combination with either Bloody Mara or Spring Loaded Fusion Drink give us a huge Magicka pool like you can see in the picture and a lot of overall Max Health.
- R/GuildWars: A Guild Wars focused subreddit. Rits and minion masters are probably among the highest for single target dps (e.g. SoS rit = 190DPS, peak 389 damage in one sec, MM can be even higher if there's a monk to heal and there are enough corpses).
After the major redesign of Pestilence set which made it empower Corpse Lance and Corpse Explosion skills, Pestilence became the best Necromancer build for solo GR pushing. While it can be potentially powerful with all the skills, Corpse Lance gives the best results and the provides the highest DPS Output.

Necromancer Class
Build Overview
Necromancer is the newest playable class in Elder Scrolls Online which is part of the Elsweyr major expansion. They are fearsome fighters and the true masters of death and life. Necromancer utilizes dark magic and resurrects the dead to fight for his cause. This class offers a new and unique playstyle which is highly dependant on nearby corpses, which requires you to add some extra thought to your rotation and playstyle, on top of the regular Resource Management. The class offers very good sustain and terrific DPS. With the increased survivability and extra Health Passive, Necromancer is one of the most durable spell-caster classes in the game.
Below you will find our recommended Skills and Sets for our Magicka Necromancer PvE DPS build. Keep in mind this guide is still in Betastage which will be updated after the actual content is on the live server

Sets used in this build:
False God's Devotion: new set introduced in Elsweyr chapter, which will be possibly the BiS set for Magicka spellcaster classes. This is yet to be verified, but since it offers 8% Magicka cost reduction for Spell, it will surely help out with Resource Mangement. It provides much smoother gameplay. This set can be obtained from Sunspire and it's bound on pick up.
Ilambris: Monster Set which increases your Maximum Magicka and has a 10% chance to create a powerful Meteor whenever you deal Shock or Flame Damage. It can be found in Veteran mode Crypt of Hearts. It is bound on pick-up.
Spell Strategist: another extremely powerful Set. It grants increased Magicka and Spell Damage, and the five-set bonus allows you to Mark your target which increases the Spell Damage it takes by 500. The bonus applies to all sources of damage including your allies, giving an immense team bonus. It can be obtained from Cyrodiil and it's bound on equip which makes it possible to be obtained from other players via trading.
| ||
Optional sets that can be used in this build:
Mantle of Siroria: currently the BiS set for spellcasters which grants the highest possible DPS. It will supposedly still be better than False God's in term of raw power after the update goes live, but it grants less Magicka-related bonuses. It can be obtained from Cloudrest mini-trial in Summerset and it's bound on pick-up.
Mother's Sorrow: very solid spellcaster set which is also easier to obtain than the previously mentioned ones. It is the recommended option for beginners and players that are just starting higher tier content. It can be obtained from Deshaan or other players via trade since it's bound on equip.

Looking to try out some new Elder Scrolls Online builds for the Necromancer class? With the release of Elsweyr, the newest expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online, players have got their hands on a shiny new class; the perfidious and morbid Necromancer, master of life and death. The Necromancer’s skillsets are based around leeching life from enemies, reanimating diabolic minions from beyond the grave, and using the corpses of enemies as fuel for devastating magic.
In typical ESO fashion, this class is extremely flexible, with a huge range of possible ESO builds. Necromancers can fill any party role – tank, healer, or DPS – and can be viable with almost any weapon and skill-set. There are three main Necromancer skill lines – Bone Tyrant, which manipulates remains to create powerful armour and barriers, Living Death, which allows you to sap life from your enemies and grant it to your allies, and Grave Lord, which unleashes elemental magic and hordes of ravenous undead on your foes.
To help you get started with this new class, here’s a rundown of three basic ESO Necromancer builds, one for each of the Necromancer skills.
The Goliath Necromancer build (Tank)
Necromancers have a nice skill-set for tanking, with a wide range of self-heals and debuffs, and a strong focus on Ultimates. It has impressive survivability and can fight constantly without running out of resources. Did we mention that you also turn into a big swole bone man? Because that’s an important detail.
Stat Distribution
Around 35-40 Health, 10-12 Magicka, and 14-18 Stamina. Make sure that Stamina is higher than Magicka.
Weapons
One-handed weapon and shield, with a frost or lightning staff as an off-hand. Frost gives extra damage mitigation, but lightning can improve party damage. Make sure not to activate the Tri-Focus passive, as that’ll cause your Magicka reserves to plummet.
Useful Skills
- Spirit Guardian – try and keep this up as much as possible, as it heals you and soaks a portion of incoming damage. It also creates a corpse when it drops, which are utilised by other Necromancer spells.
- Agony Totem – applies a buff to your party, decreasing damage taken, and a debuff to your opponents, increasing their damage taken. Can also be used for crowd control in a pinch.
- Necrotic Potency – an extremely useful skill which grants you Health and Ultimate regen for each nearby corpse in the cast area. Synergises particularly nicely with Spirit Guardian.
- Beckoning Armor – good damage mitigation, and allows you to pull ranged opponents into close combat range.
Ultimates
- Ravenous Goliath – just call us Skeletor because it’s swole Bone Man time. A useful cooldown for intense moments, this Ultimate gives you a truckload of health and a health leech effect on all nearby enemies.
- Aggressive Warhorn – this is simply a big buff to resource generation and damage for the whole party. It ain’t fancy or exciting like the big bone boy, but unless you need the survivability, this should be your go-to Ultimate for most situations.
Champion Constellations
The Lady and The Steed have the bulk of your essential passive damage reduction, but there’s healing and blocking buffs to be picked up in The Apprentice and The Shadow as well.
The Shaper ESO Necromancer build (Healer)
Functionally Necromancer healers don’t operate very differently from other healers, but they do offer a bit more in the way of sustainability and debuffing. This ESO Necromancer build also packs a fair amount of utility as well, with the ability to resurrect and buff allies.
Stat Distribution
All Magicka, all the time.
Necromancer Build With The Highest Dmg Ever
Weapons
Restoration staff, with a lightning destruction staff as an off-hand. The destruction staff gives access to Elemental Blockade, which can hugely improve party damage.
Useful Skills
- Resistant Flesh – your default skill for dealing with damage spikes. It also provides the target with a nice damage soaking buff for a few seconds. It applies a debuff to you, but this can be removed with the skill Expunge and Modify
- Spirit Guardian – adds tons of extra healing, and improves your sustainability by granting Magicka recovery.
- Summoner’s Armor – improves your survivability, and reduces the cooldown of your Spirit Guardian, making it easier to keep active.
- Unnerving Boneyard – provides some AoE DPS, but more importantly allows your party to use the Grave Robber synergy, dealing extra damage, and healing you.
Ultimates
- Renewing Animation – an extremely powerful Ultimate that can completely save an encounter from disaster. When used, it can resurrect up to three of your party members, restoring your Health and Magicka for each ally resurrected. If you’re the final survivor of a 4-person group, you can save the entire squad in a flash.
- Aggressive Warhorn – as with The Goliath build, this isn’t stylish but it’s useful, providing a big buff to your allies and overall damage output for ten seconds.
Champion Constellations
The Apprentice and The Lover are your core constellations, providing buffs to healing and sustainability. The Lady and The Steed can also make life easier by increasing your survivability.
The Defiler ESO Necromancer build (Damage)
So we’ve taught you how to be a team player, how to take the brunt of the assault, and how to heal your allies wounds, but that’s not where the glory is. We know that there’ll always be those players who can’t be satisfied unless they’re maxing out the DPS meters. Never fear, because the Necromancer has a wide range of damage builds. For this one, however, we’re going to focus on good old fashioned black magic – spells and sorcery, and a wide variety of reanimated minions to boot.
Stat distribution
All Magicka – got to keep your fuel reserves high for all that spell slingin’.
Weapons
Two fire staffs. Here weapon switching will mostly be used to allow access to a second bar of skills, so equipping a different type of weapon isn’t necessary.
Core Skills
- Stalking Blastbones – think of this spell like a grenade… a grenade attached to a reanimated corpse. Powerful against both single and multiple targets, this spell also creates corpses, a valuable additional resource that other Necromancer spells make use of.
- Ricochet Skull – your bread-and-butter damage ability for when other spells are on cooldown. Every third cast of this spell causes the projectile to deal more damage and bounce to additional enemies, which is a nice bonus.
- Skeletal Arcanist – a handy undead mage that deals solid AoE damage, and with the appropriate passives provides extra Magicka Recovery and Spell Penetration.
- Shocking Siphon – this is your standard, run-of-the-mill corpse eating buff, as it requires one to be targeted. Deals high damage to all enemies around the corpse, and also restores your Magicka.
Ultimates
- Glacial Colossus – summons a big meaty lad to deal heavy AoE damage, an area stun, and a massive debuff to anyone caught in his wake.
- Shooting Star – deals heavy damage to an area, stuns targets, and leaves a damage over time debuff on the floor. In addition, for each enemy you kill with this skill you generate more Ultimate, so it’s a good idea to use it against mobs of weaker enemies.
Necromancer Build With The Highest Dmg Mean
Champion Constellations
The Apprentice and The Lover are your core damage buff constellations, but you’ll want to also put points into The Lady to improve survivability. At higher levels, putting points into The Steed, The Ritual, and the Atronach is a good move.
